Homer Issac Kistler, 91, Exeter Township, formerly of Sinking Spring, died Dec. 24, 2007, in Reading Hospital.
He was married March 24, 1940, to Edna Sarah (Berndt) Kistler, Exeter Township.
Born Nov. 25, 1916, in Virginville, he was a son of the late George J. and Katie (Correll) Kistler.
He was raised by his grandparents, the late Samuel and Louisa Kistler.
He was employed a number of years as the store manager with A&P Grocery Store, Myerstown, and later as a scale operator and parts manager with Berks Corp., Temple. Homer was last employed 20 years as the parts manager with Flicker & Sons, Maxatawny Township, before retiring in 1980.
Homer was a 1934 graduate of Slatington High School, Lehigh County.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Homer was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sinking Spring.
He also is survived by two children, Samuel D., husband of Bernice A. (Strause) Kistler, Tilden Township; and Sandra A. (Kistler), wife of Neal R. Fegely, Exeter Township.
Other survivors include two grandchildren, Angela, wife of Brian Johnson, and Nathan Fegley; two stepgrandchildren, Leslie, wife of Kevin Chaundry, and Brett, husband of Shannon Schlegel; and two stepgreat-grandchildren, Abigail Chaundry and Issabella Chaundry.
He was predeceased by four siblings: Edward, Harold, Allen and Erma.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale, with the Rev. Harry S. Bohn Jr. officiating. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Township.
