The church stands on the ground on which was once a Union church shared by the area's Reformed, Menonite and Lutheran congregations. The Mennonites left the union church prior to 1800 and the Lutherans remained until 1990, leaving the Reformed congregation in sole possession of the third church structure built in 1878.
There are two cemeteries related to the church, the oldest of which lies next to the church, with a newer cemetery siuated to the north of the original, across the road.
