C. Brinton Sharpless, 74, of West Chester, a former heavy-equipment operator, died of cancer Wednesday at his home. He had retired from the East Bradford Township road department about 1990.
He was born in West Chester in 1927 and educated in local schools. He was a Freemason and a member of the Elks Lodge and the Odd Fellows Lodge in West Chester. As one with a passion for old clocks, Mr. Sharpless spent many weekends visiting garage sales and flea markets and tinkering with compelling timepieces.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Catherine Hall Sharpless; children Fred, Thomas, Georgeanne Hocht and Karen Mohr; seven grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow and 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Founds Funeral Home, 229 S. High St. in West Chester.
Services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, and burial will follow at Birmingham-Lafayette Cemetery in Birmingham Township.
