Coffee Run cemetery belonged to the parish of St. Mary's, the first Catholic church in Delaware and was known as the Coffee Run Church. Founded about 1772, the first church was erected by Matthias Manners, and the last one, erected by Reverend Patrick Kenny, stood on the grounds until 1908. The congregation was activ until the late 1800's when services were discontinued after new churches were erected in Hockessin and Ashland.
The entrance to the cemetery is marked with an iron gate bearing the name Coffee Run, and there is a historic marker next to the gate.
